Grand Marshal Lorrayne Parker of Houghton Lake Heights will lead the Tip-up Town parade the morning of Jan. 16. The parade begins at Thomas Motors at 10 a.m.
A resident for many years, Parker has been active with the Houghton Lake Lioness Club for 18 years and served as secretary for the Houghton Lake Merchants Association for 13 years. She worked as Tip-up Town parade chairman for 11 years. She and her husband, Dennis, live in Houghton Lake Heights.
In years past, someone of high profile was chosen from outside the community to server as marshal. She thought it was a good idea that the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce decided to choose someone from within the community, and lo and behold, they chose her!
Parker's advice for Tip-up Town festivities: "Dress warm and have fun!"
She attended the TUT kickoff at Houghton Lake High School. "I was amazed at how many people were there," in spite of the weather, she said.
You can meet Grand Marshall Parker at the Tip-up Town Bash Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Prudenville, along with Queen Tracy Smith and her court.
